During my childhood, I was always drawing and painting.
At the age of 14 one of my teachers advised me to study in a specialized Fine Art School.
I always loved painting, drawing, fashion and photography to express my ideas.
To me, hand stitching is a similar medium to oil paint or charcoal, as it acts primarily as a vehicle of expression. Stitching allows me to create layers, to reveal things… to create another dimension on top of my photography or paintings. My process is very intuitive and unplanned but, at the same time, with no space for mistake.
The inspiration for my work comes from intimate stories, memories, and travels, or ideas that I have and that reflect me as a person.
I think that what Hung & Magliaro said about the use of craft in contemporary art is a very good description of the kind of work I do: “As an artist I depict my experiences using my most immediate and fine-tuned tools – my hands. Art is engaged as a process rather than as a means to an end.”
The idea for my art came from working with my hands, using methods and materials traditionally associated with fashion.

Olá Mafaldinha. Achei as tuas obras muito interessantes e acima de tudo, muito "clean" e tranquilizantes. Parabéns e um beijo de Lx.
